Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)
Open Geospatial Consortium OGC is an international industry consortium of over 350 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop and establish common interfaces that "geo-enable" the Web and mainstream information technology (IT).
In OGC, the geoprocessing technology consumer community works with GIS software vendors, earth imaging vendors, database software vendors, integrators, computer vendors and other technology providers to reach agreement on the technical details of open interfaces that allow these systems to work together.
IONIC within the Open Geospatial Consortium - OGC:
- Technical Member of the OGC since 1999
- Co-author of multiple OGC specifications (WMS, WFS, WCS, Catalog, Context, GML, ...)
- Seat at OGC Planning Committee since 2002
- Chair of the OGC Europe Group since 2003
- Member of the OGC Board Of Directors (Chris Tucker, IE) since 2005

ISO Technical Committee 211

ISO/TC 211 Geographic information/Geomatics is responsible for the ISO geographic information series of standards. Its scope is the standardization in the field of digital geographic information. ISO/TC 211's work aims to establish a structured set of standards for information concerning objects or phenomena that are directly or indirectly associated with a location relative to the Earth.
These standards may specify, for geographic information, methods, tools and services for data management (including definition and description), acquiring, processing, analyzing, accessing, presenting and transferring such data in digital/electronic form between different users, systems and locations.
IONIC is the representative of the Belgian delegation at ISO/TC 211:
- Contributor to ISO/TC 211 working groups
- Project Leader for ISO 19142 (WFS) and ISO 19143 (Filter Editing)
- Head of Belgian delegation at ISO/TC 211
- Representative from ISO/TC 211 to United Nations Geographic Information Working Group (UNGIWG)

IONIC with regard other standard groups
Alongside OGC/ISO activity, there are numerous of other standard groups that are actively looking to contribute to interoperability in all domains. While IONIC is committed to maintain best of breed technology components, tools and libraries as well as open solutions, our R&D department is regularly making in depth investigations on new protocols and technologies that have been issued by other standard groups such as
OASIS, W3C, DGIWG or CEN. As long as these other technologies are enhancing interoperability and reflecting a concrete market demand, our engineers will analyse them and, if suitable, integrate them in our suite of RedSpider components.
